Monday-Wednesday 1. Demonstrate comprehension by responding to short analysis and inference questions with textual evidence. 2. Defining vocabulary words using context clues. Thursday-Friday Students will be able to: 1. Define and explain informational writing. 2. Choose a topic and brainstorm/research an informational writing piece. 3. Write informational essay giving information on a particular topic. |

Learning Objectives/Task Students will log in to their Mc Graw Hill account to access the close read “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. Teacher will quickly review types of irony to prepare students for their writing prompt. Students will then complete their writing prompt on Mc Graw Hill. Learning Objectives/Task: Students will chose one of the following journal prompts and work on their weekly journal (Two Paragraphs). 1. Write a letter to the President persuading him to institute a new holiday. What’s the holiday, why do we need it, and how should it be celebrated? 2. What do you think of government programs that promote healthy eating and nutrition? Should they be legal, or should the government not get involved in peoples’ diets? 3. Do you think that violent video games encourage people to commit real-life violence? Why or why not? 4. Of all the field trips you’ve gone on in your school career, which one is your favorite thus far and why? Give details of the trip. Learning Objectives/Task: Class will get ready to write an informational essay on "How to Get Good Grades in School". Students will take some time and read through three short articles. Article 1-How to Get Good Grades in High School. Article 2-How to Get Good Grades. Article 3- The Secrets to Good Grades. -Class will review the parts of an essay. -Class will review how to write thesis statement. -Each student will take time out to write their thesis statement. -Teacher will review what goes in the introduction. -Class will begin working on their introduction.
